This knife is my most expensive knife, but wow the quality and feel are unbelievable. I would say if you have the money and want a high quality OTF look no further. The Troodon is virtually identical in size to the UTX85. It throws a 3 inch blade to the 85's 3.1 inch blade. The difference in the two is the exterior, and in that the Troodon feels narrower, taller, with a smaller release button, and curved side gimping. Blade deployment seems to take less force than on the UTX85, and the blade is slightly narrower. As a result the Troodon is… read more around 1/3 of an ounce lighter than the UTX85.
Overall fit and finish is perfect, and the blade came razor sharp! I particularly enjoy the look of the various markings on the blade, and pocket clip.
Other than just to have something different I'm not sure many will be able to justify the near $150 price premium over a UTX85, but the avid MT collector will want this knife!

Yes, the combat troodon is a big knife, but don't let the size and weight keep you from buying one. The weight is very manageable and it hides very well in your pants pocket. It is expensive due to the machinery work, but it is a knife that I am proud to own!

I received my Microtech Combat Troodon in the mail and as soon as I fired it I knew something was wrong. It was incredibly difficult to fire one handed. Almost impossible. I’ve had many OTFs and expected some tension but not like this. I called DLT Trading and they told me to send it back in for inspection. My hands are 8 inches from the tip of my middle fingers to my wrist. The handle for this knife is right at 5 and a quarter inches. It is made for a big hand. It feels very ergonomic to be so straight. You'll need some thumb strength to activate the blade. You can build up thumb strength with a Cypher. LOL The price of the knife seems high but it's not. Texas off grid companions. Combat Troodon arrived promptly and in perfect condition. Carries very well for a large knife and has strong solid lockup. A fitting companion for my Glock #32 in .357 Sig. Really like the full serrated edge paired with the straight edge. I operate alone out here in SE Texas near the Louisiana State line and I feel at ease with this Combat Troodon.

The only reason for the 4 stars is I find the switch is just as stiff as my ultratech's. Most reviewers say it's easier but not mine its definitely rough and I have strong fingers/grip. Which the tension makes it not as fun to play with as I can only actuate it a few times before my hands are killing me. First Impression: not impressive

Compact and slim pocket knife, Smooth open and close, great looking finish, light weight, and sharp. A good about of force is used with your thumb opening and closing the knife.

The pocket clip fell off right out of the box. The screw/glass breaker was never tightened. I cant easily tighten because of the custom design. I will most likely have to use some locktight and pliers… read more to get it to stay together. This is bullshit for the price. Amazing it was so easily overlooked at the final stages of assembly and inspection.

Not sure whats so special about this knife, that it deems a deceleration of authenticity, a little sunglass bag to carry it in, a cloth to wipe it down with, and a custom very padded nylon carrying case. These additional things that are sent with the knife are useless if you intend to use carry this knife for use. It just bumps up the price and makes it out to be more special than what it is.

Save your money and buy a lesser expensive micro tech. There is no justification in the additional cost of this knife.

One Sweet Knife!!!!!

For starters, I absolutely love this knife! This is actually my second Marfione Custom I've ever purchased with the first being a Nemesis IV prototype back in 2015. Just picked up this knife from a staff member that went out of their way to facilitate the sale. Great knife. My 4th Microtech. Sharp, not too large, well built. The action is actually less effort than my ultratech. Very pleased.

This knife withstand fire academy.

I attended a 11 week program for firefighter 1&2 as will as RIT and vehicle extrication and this knife preformed flawlessly. From cutting seat-belts to using the glass breaker on the side and rear windows, this knife held an edge and preformed better than many custom built specifically for that role. all I can say bad about this knife is unless you are a professional knife sharpener… read more than only strop and hone, the blade steel has worn out carbide v sharpeners in the past and will take a very long time and lots of practice to make razor sharp again. but it holds a good edge so avoid that or have MT do it for you.

The fit and finish on this knife is impeccable. The action on this size troodon seems smoother than the larger microtechs. This a joy to EDC and use.

This is by far the best looking knife I own. Sharpest production knife I have ever received. It's a little hard when you retract the blade, but not that big of a problem.
