The updated Krake Raken V2.5 MODel features added milling on the side of the handles to improve your grip. Now you can flip better than ever! The highly anticipated Krake Rakenbalisong butterfly knife has all of the Precision-engineered smoothness of a Squid balisong trainer, revised with a beautifully finished live blade. The handles have rounded edges and deep texturing to provide a sure grip, the zen pins have been upgraded with harder steel to preserve the gap between the handles, and the bushing/washer system has been redesigned to further reduce—or even negate—blade play. Its a butterfly knife that will eat up drops, cut like a champ, and flip like nobody's business.Squid Industries builds some of the best balisongs money can buy. Whether you're looking for a trainer or a live blade, Squid has you covered!

Kids these days...

But, I can flip (not terribly) and I've been a knife collector for over 20 years, which of course includes Balisongs. So my point of reference is: Benchmade 42, and 87, Microtech Tachyon and Urbanfly, BRS Alpha and Replicant, and probably…

a couple others I'm forgetting.
The fit and build quality on this thing is quite good, very good in fact. The action is smooth and the overall design feels neutral & balanced. And, it is remarkably quiet--surprisingly so. I was a bit skeptical at the price-tag for such a new "trainer" company in a world already overcrowded with new knife makers, but these guys have it figured out. No gimmick, just a very "playable" knife that wants to be handled and can be pushed while also being forgiving. I also love the simple and straight blade geometry, I'm getting a bit tired of so many bali blades looking like a sport-shoe logo, but that's just my thing.
