About Microtech Ultratech S/E OTF Automatic Knife Red CC (3.4" Black) 121-1RD
This Ultratech features a drop point blade with a black finish and a plain cutting edge. It has a contoured, red anodized 6061-T6 aluminum handle with a black finished pocket clip, glass breaker, and stainless steel hardware. Microtech equipped this version of the ever popular Ultratech D/A OTF knife with a smooth, contoured handle design that promotes increased comfort during use. This updated MODel provides the same dimensions, hardware, and durability offered by the "Tri-Grip" variation, but goes easier on the hands and pockets. For those unfamiliar with the Ultratech, it's a fully automatic knife with a double-action out-the-front mechanism, meaning the thumb slide deploys the blade and retracts it as well. I have had several auto knives over the years. This is my first OTF but will not be my last. The workmanship and materials are second to none. It carries very well and is readily accessible. The knife came razor sharp so I have not yet had to sharpen it. I am a member of a fire department and having a knife that can be opened OR closed with one hand is vital. Autos recently became legal to carry in my state. Ive handled a few standard autos and realized that a flipper knife was just as fast if not faster than the autos I have tried, so I wanted something different. I like this knife a lot. Its slim and carries well. Opening and closing is fast and easy. I added some grip tape to the bottom and side opposite the clip for some added grip… read more and to help get the knife out of the pocket. The aluminum handle is a bit slick. I use it when breaking down boxes for recycling, its easy and safe to open and close the blade while repositioning the boxes to cut different pieces reducing the change of accidentally stabbing myself. It holds a good edge and sharpens relatively easy on my sharpmaker.
